Move

The park will continue to be a favorite location for bicyclists, pedestrians, and runners. The trails and paths will be lengthened and made more interesting, creating new ways to explore and enjoy the park.

There will be five miles of pedestrian pathways through the park, as well as a 5K athletic loop around the park, creating opportunities for active and passive recreation along the waterfront for walkers and runners alike.

The NYS Empire Trail runs through the park. The Shoreline Trail runs from Buffalo Harbor State Park north through downtown Buffalo to North Buffalo, Tonawanda, and beyond.

Five of the eight miles are dedicated for walkers and bicyclists only, including that part that runs through Ralph Wilson Park.

Cyclists will be able to access bike trails to move from Porter Avenue or across the new pedestrian bridge, through the park on dedicated bike lanes and shared trails and connect to Canalside and downtown Buffalo.
