Play

Future phase
The entire park will provide play space for people of all ages. The Play Garden at Ralph Wilson Park will be unlike anything seen before in Western New York!

Impact During Construction

The play garden will be constructed during phase two of construction. The Kaboom! playground on the 4th Street side of the park is part of phase one. This will replace the playground that is currently there, which will be removed during construction of the new pedestrian bridge. For up-to-date information, please visit our construction updates page.

The destination play garden will draw families into the core park. It is designed to nurture active and imaginative play, building off Buffalo’s industrial history and the Great Lakes ecosystem.

The ADA-accessible space will incorporate water play and have discreet areas to accommodate different ages. There will be adjacent car and bike parking as well as accessible rest rooms.

Playground on 4th Street

As part of Phase One of construction, the Ralph Wilson Park Conservancy and the City of Buffalo are partnering with Kaboom! and the nearby community to build a new play space on 4th Street, connected to the main park via the new pedestrian bridge. Construction for this new playground is slated for mid-2024. Community engagement around this project will begin in 2023.
