Ralph Wilson Park Bridge: Community watch parties!

Please check our Instagram for up-to-the minute updates.

The Ralph Wilson Park Bridge is in Buffalo on 716 DAY!

Join us for a 716 DAY celebration! There will be 2 community watch parties starting around 12:30pm. We anticipate the first barge carrying sections of the Ralph Wilson Park Bridge will pass through around 1:00pm. Join us at:

  • Freedom Park at the foot of Ferry St.
  • Rotary Park at West Side Rowing Club

Times are estimated and could change to earlier or later pending weather or other factors.

*Please note that Ralph Wilson Park is closed for construction and is not a community watch party site.

What a better way to spend 716 Day (Tuesday, July 16th) than watching the Ralph Wilson Park bridge arrive in the city of Buffalo at these beautiful waterfront locations! One hopper barge and tug carrying two pieces of the bridge will be led into the city by the Buffalo Maritime Center’s Seneca Chief and the Red Headed Bagpiper to celebrate its arrival home.

*For information on the press event that morning, please contact Kari Bonaro at kbonaro@RWParkBuffalo.org.

Freedom Park (at the foot of Ferry near Niagara Street).

Cross over the Ferry Street Lift Bridge and watch the bridge as it comes through the Black Rock Canal. This beautiful park has a picnic shelter and bathrooms & is listed in the National Park Services National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom.

West Side Rowing Club at Rotary Park (48 Porter Ave.)

See the bridge as it makes its final approach to Ralph Wilson Park! This grassy area provides a lovely vantage point for the barges at the end of the journey, and the wonderful team at WSRC will open the Fontana Boat House for viewing as well. There’s parking at WSRC and nearby with a short walk.

From the water!

For those of you with access to a boat, we hope you’ll join us from the water and watch the bridge as it arrives on the shoreline of Ralph Wilson Park!

By bike!

There will be many great viewing areas all along the Shoreline Trail. Follow by bike and ride right next to the barges!

There are plenty of other places to see the barges! Tag us @RalphWilsonParkBridge with pictures of your viewing party!

Details: Each land location will have a watch party captain with giveaways & information about Ralph Wilson Park and the bridge – look for the person wearing a Ralph Wilson Park Conservancy t-shirt! Buffalo Maritime Center will have giveaways for the boaters – stop by to get yours!
